Pros

They provide a paycheck and some level of stability, however if they don't change they will not survive. Other than that, not many positives.

Cons

Technology, if you call it that, is simply outdated to the point it makes your job almost impossible. The expectation is that they will compete with other carriers based on "service" alone. Service is defined as responding to everything as quickly as you can but get everything else done too. However, because of pathetic systems you can't be efficient, even the email is unsupported Thunderbird Mozilla, because it's free. No PowerPoint, no Outlook, and literally no clue. Many of their problems could be solved by better more efficient systems, not more people. Many managers are either too ignorant to know how bad things are or they truly don't understand because this is all they have been exposed to. I agree with other poster's comments regarding career suicide and promoting new ideas, they are incapable of adapting them so there is no point. Agents don't recognize the inefficiencies and lack of service aren't really people issues but systems.

Pros

I believe the CEO to be a highly ethical person who cares about employees. Benefits were decent, and the job I had was one where I could show up, put in little effort (after repeated attempts to contribute more were dismissed as 'not my job'....see 'cons'), have no one notice my boredom, and get paid. If you are looking for job security over opportunity, this might be the place for you. Most of my co-workers were lovely people and many were happy working there--just depends on your priorities. Conservative management means they move very slowly on drastic changes.

Cons

My seven years there were basically career suicide, concealed from me by the illusion of opportunity. If you are talented, hard working, ambitious, creative, etc...do not expect anyone to notice (though you might get a 'gold star' literally) and plan on self-promotion if you want to get anywhere or learn anything new. If you are mobile/willing to relocate it might help. Technology is not cutting edge so depending on your position, you may be in for headaches there. Job security at the branch office where I worked was somewhat dependent on biting your tongue and not making waves, even when there was a real problem. At my office, people were sometimes promoted because of seniority or other office politics over talent or qualifications.

Pros

Decent benefits and time off

Cons

Change in corporate direction has resulted in "chicken little" reactions on a branch level. This is not the company it use to be. They care nothing for their employees anymore. Work for this company if you are seeking: * No authority level or diminished at best * No opportunity for advancement * Micro management at its finest * Sex discrimination * Lack of management support * Being under paid compared to peer companies * Favoritism based on brown nosing ability * You seek not to be recognized for your industry knowledge * Your suggestions for improvement are dismissed because "We know best" * You enjoy being so far behind the industry technology * You enjoy being stiffled
