Pros

Outstanding benefits, fitness center on-site, profit sharing, stock purchase discount, competitive pay, optional discounted health insurance premium if you participate in fitness program

Cons

High pressure, high stress in all areas of IT, lack of encouragement, lots of negative attitudes, review process accentuates your mistakes instead of your accomplishments

Pros

Leadership who has been there for over 10 years and prior Executive Leadership were awesome. Prior culture was supportive. The CEO visited and spoke to everyone. It exemplified a family atmosphere. Most employees performed well because they believed in the mission and wanted to do well for the leaders. Pay is above average for the industry. Med benefits are the best in the industry.

Cons

Current leadership at HR, Claims and CEO levels have shifted the culture away from what made EMC excellent. Collaboration is encouraged, but behind the scenes all decisions are questioned and those who are in "favor" receive the encouragement. There is a shift toward hiring non-experienced JV candidates who do not understand the intricacies of claims, management, reserves and jurisdictions. They are hired at the Corporate Level with significant matrixed leadership responsibilities and influence. This has resulted in a "political" atmosphere where everyone is trying to CYA rather than doing the right thing. There is a transition from autonomous branches to centralized claims. Much of the key knowledge base has left. Employee surveys are now used extensively. Benefits for retirees and long-term contributors has been reduced.

Pros

benefits and pay are good

Cons

Overachievers beware! This is a great company w great benefits. It seems like an awesome opportunity until you realize how the management actually operates. If you are not a favorite, you absolutely will not progress regardless of your hard work and extracurricular activities. You will not be given a fair shake. You will be left feeling stifled, overworked, and unappreciated. Thus why their turnover rate is extremely high. There is not one underwriter there that has been there for more than 5 years.
