Pros

This company cares about its people. C-level executives remember your name after meeting you once and people are allowed to work through issues without being immediately let go. EMC pays for many insurance designation courses and offers nice rewards upon completion of a designation. The company even pays for college courses that are related to your position. This is a small company so it's easy to stand out if you put in the effort and have the right attitude. They tend to promote from within. The company offers a 401k and pension plan which is rare in this age. Long term employees are recognized with anniversary gifts.

Cons

The decentralized structure can be an issue at times. Operations in one branch may be completely different when compared to another branch. For instance, some branches offer flex time while others have strict hours. Some branches have accounting and premium audit staff while another branch may have the underwriters handle customer inquiries on these subjects. The health benefits are not as good as some other companies in the industry. The plan is self insured and managed by a company that sometimes denies legitimate claims. Getting the claim paid can be a hassle. PTO is accumulated with no option to use days in advance. The technology is somewhat outdated but changes are in the works.

Pros

Decent benefits and time off

Cons

Change in corporate direction has resulted in "chicken little" reactions on a branch level. This is not the company it use to be. They care nothing for their employees anymore. Work for this company if you are seeking: * No authority level or diminished at best * No opportunity for advancement * Micro management at its finest * Sex discrimination * Lack of management support * Being under paid compared to peer companies * Favoritism based on brown nosing ability * You seek not to be recognized for your industry knowledge * Your suggestions for improvement are dismissed because "We know best" * You enjoy being so far behind the industry technology * You enjoy being stiffled
