Pros

Only pro: flexible with scheduling

Cons

Meridian doesn’t care about the patients or staff. They only care about keeping their beds full so the directors can make bonuses. They actively put staff in danger by refusing to discharge patients when they get aggressive or cause major problems for staff members (they will only do so after multiple— and I mean several— of these interactions). They hardly train at all, and there’s little to no supervision of RS staff, which is highly problematic. Staff members oftentimes treat patients like they are subhuman, and disregard many of their needs. It’s really a mess. I wouldn’t ever recommend working here, especially if you actually care about mental health. They take people off of drugs just to feed them Seroquel or some other pharmaceutical. Not to mention, extremely chaotic work environment. Always understaffed and never regarding staff needs. Not worth your time.

Pros

Director and staff supervisor have created a family within the team that has truly cultivated a work culture that supports each other and commits to “ having each other’s back “ when struggling for any reason. My direct Supervisor works in whatever area needs more support, takes out time to offer our team extra guidance , extra training since there is very little from corporate, listens, and follows through while always advocating for us when needed. I love our community of patients and we are always getting direct feedback from them regarding how impressed they are that we have staff that are so genuinely invested in their care.

Cons

Went through a lot of turn around and employees became so burnt out from having no staff. Some of us were constantly working doubles and putting in over 20 hours a week of overtime. Health depleted. We were able to stick together as a team but corporate is not very understanding and has no clue how hard some of us work and how little a few do. They can be very rude and unreasonable. Pay is not very good which is why people get lazy but there’s always room for over time. Some staff can be very unprofessional . Our building is falling apart , we need a lot of updates and we constantly have issues with our equipment.
