Pros

I have worked at Epstein for 3.5 years and have great things to say about the staff and the work we do. Management is responsive and available to staff's needs, and the culture is entrepreneurial. Informal mentoring opportunities exist at all levels if you seek them out. Diversity of work allows for interesting and daily challenges. Half-day Fridays year round is a great perk! Not demanding of extreme overtime commitment, and non-salaried staff is paid for 100% of overtime when needed. Also it's a 100% employee-owned company. Cross-discipline exposure is a definite plus

Cons

As with many business in this market segment, lack of diversity remains a challenge. Brand may be misperceived in marketplace due to multi-disciplinary projects.

Pros

Half day Fridays hands down. Some select cool people to work with who have talent.

Cons

Management thinks up reasons to cut salaries and charge more for benefits while expecting top effort from overworked underpaid employees. Key leader checked out while sitting at desk earning bank - to this day. No one trusts HR because dept head spouts personal employee business to the board members.

As I think most companies have experienced, Epstein has seen an uptick in our insurance costs on both the employee and employer side. However, we do not want to reduce our benefit level since we know how important insurance is to our employees. As the person in charge of salaries, I cannot think of any salary reductions made since the Recession when we did all we could to keep as many people employed as possible.
