Pros

Pay and benefits are good, and we thankfully got to work from home. People get individual recognition for great things they've done.

Cons

This was a very stressful job. Management is constantly on your butt about getting more and more billable hours. I was recently laid off with my position terminated. The company had a huge hiring spree that I was a part of, and then there wasn't enough work to go around after that. LOTS of people were in the same boat not being able to find work to bill. Even with me constantly messaging people for ANYTHING to do, the majority of the time I was ignored. Those who did have the decency to respond never had anything for me. I could barely even get anyone to allow me to shadow them or help me learn anything new and useful. It really seemed that no one wanted to bother. It's very hard to get anywhere and get those billable hours when everyone ignores you. This was an entry level position, by the way. My layoff was also blamed on EcOnOmiC CoNdITioNs and clients being flaky by delaying or cancelling projects. They don't want to take any sort of blame for their poor decisions of hiring way too many people. Additionally, kost people I worked with were great, but I had a particular PM who lied about me straight to my line manager over a misunderstanding. I take blame for the misunderstanding, and I wish this PM would have talked to me first claiming I refused to do work asked of me. I did no such thing. This will sound like an excuse, but it was hard for me to have a clear mind while I was working while also visiting a family member dying of cancer and trying to get in as much time together as I could. So sorry for being human, I guess. In this same project, I was asked to do more and more and more things on top of what I was already doing and even cover another person's entire sections of a report. A lot of these things I was asked to do were very time consuming, and I even wrote out a list of every single thing I did that I billed. The PM didn't like that I billed too many hours and asked me to take them back and just put them into some other project number. That seemed so weird and a little unethical to ask me to bill so many hours to another client(s). I didn't even HAVE another project to bill them to since there just wasn't enough work to find, so I was screwed out of those hours that I desperately needed.

Pros

ERM hosts a wide variety of impressive experts and managers, allowing teams to work on a wide array of different types of remediation and investigation projects.

Cons

ERM has been struggling to bring in new clients and the junior staff are the first to pay. Junior staff, depending on their supervisor are sometimes struggling to source work to keep up their trackable progress. Some junior staff will use all resources at their disposal, technical networks, multi-office teams channels and even company-wide networks to source weekly work and are still left searching for work. This is because most projects (at least on the East Coast) are long-term monitoring projects that do not provide a steady state of work. This also hinders junior staff as they hope to progress through the career levels. Most junior staff end up leaving and most senior staff start their careers elsewhere, leaving very few people with the expertise to actually help people progress professionally.

Pros

The people you work with on projects are great and very supportive but you need to get a good line manager or you will be in trouble. They do try with all the DEI and they have good insurance.

Cons

The job I interviewed for was not the job I got. In the interview the job was presented as technical project support role but 6 months in I was told I was only an administrative assistant basically (they even changed the title for everyone in the role from project coordinator to admin) even though I’m a PMP with experience in project management they would not move me to a consultant track. oh had this comes with a billable goal just like a consultant and you will be hounded by management to prove your worth this way.
