Pros

Huge access to people, resources, wide exposure to clients and lots of responsibility early on.

Cons

Politics, each persons experience is strongly based on the client teams they work with and everyone has a vastly different experience. There have been many cases were people feel "screwed" based on not having a team or people around them that will go to bat for them. Very political and competitive.

Great place to start your career

Pros

Lots of diverse experiences and opportunities to move around. I believe that this company has a place for almost anyone, from business support staff to client-facing professionals. The culture is also very inclusive, and they try to celebrate individual's differences. Better career progression, on average, than other rivaling firms.

Cons

Specific to tax, the Diversified Staff Group program is great in concept, but may not always pan out the way an individual would like it to. It is often driven by business needs, instead of the individual's career development goals and inhibits specialization, especially when compared to peers in rivaling firms.

Pros

The benefits with EY are great - healthcare, unlimited sick time, 100% paid short term disability. Offices are nice and there is usually food for meetings.

Cons

Once you're in and they have you, they never expect you to leave so there's no incentive to promote you (regardless of the work you do or skills you have), and there's certainly no opportunity for advancement unless you go the staff route.
