Pros

The 50% off discount is awesome. I love the interesting products. The positive environment is nice to work in. I, personally, get a lot of great support from my DM. I get some freedom to make my own decisions. Not super corporate.

Cons

There is a lack of employees at Home Office. Not a single person at Home Office works on the weekends, including IT. These are the busiest days of the week and when we have technological issues there is no one to help. This makes it very difficult as a Store Manager to get what they need when no one is there on the busiest days of retail.

Pros

employee discount, opportunities to move up in the company

Cons

Managers and upper management have no accountability (they are basically able to just make things up as they go along and write people up under the general term of "insubordination" for anything they want). There are a lot of opportunities because this is a new and growing company, but that has lead to unqualified people being promoted based on how popular they are rather than their actual abilities (as someone else said, it's the blind leading the blind). They play favorites and have little to no communication skills, so it feels like working in a big high school. I would work here to get myself through college and to gain retail experience, but then get out as fast as you can. I also really felt that none of the higher-ups care about their employees. The company culture seems to be "keep your head down and do what you're told," so if you have a problem or want to speak up, don't bother. My store had an issue with workplace bullying, which caused 4 employees to quit over the past year. I told higher-ups about the problem and submitted a letter to HR, but because that particular employee was a favorite with upper management they ignored the problem and didn't even bother to investigate. Totally made me lose my respect for the company.

Drama filled and hypocritical

Pros

The discount was good, but considering the quality of items, by using your discount you're paying for what the product SHOULD be priced at. My co-workers were likeminded and mostly great people The regular customers were a joy to get to know

Cons

Management. There was a lot of gossiping within the store by the higher ups. I felt like I was in high school again with all of the drama that the managers started. The managers were constantly standing behind the cash wrap gossiping, outside of the store on the phone with personal calls for 30-45 minutes at a time, or out on an hour long walk for no reason, while the rest of the employees worked for their sales. They would always come back into the store angry that they didn't have any sales then proceed to start stealing sales that the associates worked hard for. The sales goals were unrealistic and you would get yelled at if it was a slow day and you didn't meet your goal. They won't give you breaks either. You have to ask for it, but be prepared for them to get upset that you try to take a 30 minute break. But it's okay that they leave for an hour or two for no reason at all. They like to cut hours for no reason and hope that will make an employee quit, because they have no good reason to fire them. The whole company is hypocritical. And management is a joke.
