Pros

Good open work space and comms learning opportunities for junior level staff.

Cons

Culture. General consensus is the leader is in over her head and cares more about her "personal brand" than the client work. Considerable favoritism based on race and gender have been created by the leader as a protection mechanism. This only promotes unprofessional and poor behavior. Solid talent not wanting to manage their work in this type of environment and play the Hunger Games have left. Salaries are much lower than you would expect for a leading agency.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Ensuring that we have a culture in which all employees can thrive and feel comfortable is of the utmost importance, therefore I would very much like to speak with you about your concerns. There are a number of safe spaces for employees to provide feedback. I assure you that I am one , as is your new local HR leader and our internal Listen Line and web portal. We ALWAYS want employees to feel safe sharing their feedback and I sincerely hope you will reach out to me at Mara.O’Keeffe@edelman.com or use one of the other mechanisms I mentioned above. Maria O'Keeffe, Executive Director, US HR.

Pros

Diversity of work, large client list, flexibility and good work/life balance, fantastic people to work with

Cons

Some processes are out of date and there are times when work can suffer due to unrealistic expectations or turnarounds or low budgets. But we do our best, always.

Long hours but some perks

Pros

The company retains a large number of high-profile clients. Though I saw the talent level decline during my tenure, Edelman still attracts many bright people. It still looks good on a resume, and you make useful connections while working there. PTO and benefits were quite good.

Cons

You work long hours for low pay. I've seen the demanding hours cause high levels of stress and, at times, ruin people's personal lives. The company may be a leader in PR, but the overall sophistication is not in the same ballpark as marketing firms and in-house marketing departments. If the firm wants to play in the world of marketing, they need to step up their game. The firm seems to have a false sense of how sophisticated their work is. Social listening, press releases, and tweets are essentially commodity offerings nowadays.

Thank you for sharing your feedback in such a constructive way. While work-life balance can mean different things to different people, you're not wrong that it can sometimes be difficult to achieve in the client service field and we have more work to do to ensure employees are as supported as possible in maintaining the right workload with the right resources at play. If you have any suggestions or more feedback to share, I hope you'll consider reaching out to me at maria.okeeffe@edelman.com. Maria O'Keeffe, Executive Director, US HR
