Pros

Excellent Creative Directors Nice open office with great views Good location

Cons

This is a PR agency that wants to be full service but lots of things at the current moment prevent this: Poor communications between internal departments. There are a lot of disconnects between what's been bought and what creative is supposed to do. Together the earned, paid, media team, project management team, account service team, and creative never know what is happening. Low budgets = low quality. The budgets promised to the client are too low to do high quality work. Dishonest when hiring. The creative recruitment team will promise you things to get you in the door. Then they don't happen. When you try to talk with them after you are hired they are MIA. There is no one else there HR?? to help deliver on these promises.

Thanks for your review. It's true that a large evolution from traditional PR to communications marketing is a big deal - and something that comes with a lot of excitement, innovation and a sense of fulfillment, but also learning curves. Your input is helpful as we further refine how we operate in this new model. I'm concerned about your feedback regarding broken promises after being hired and hope you'll consider reaching out to me to discuss it, so I have the opportunity to understand and address the situation. It's not something we want repeated. Thanks for your time and I hope to hear from you soon. Maria O'Keeffe, Executive Director, US HR

Pros

The pros are clear: Edelman and the client relationships are the best of the best. You will have lots to talk about in future interviews.

Cons

The cons; however, are endless. Mike is impulsive and surrounds himself by loud senior management who exemplify poor leadership and quite frankly lack of any sort of intelligence. They pride themselves on being pseudo consultants, but the work lacks any sort of research backing or real innovative insights. There is a reason their contracts are no where near the scale of a consulting firm. The biggest problem is the intense group think where all really and truly believe that their work is the best and most important in the world, but ask again if their research has every been published in the NYTimes and you'll get a big... no.

Pros

This company used to be well-run, efficient, profitable, and equitable to employees. In the past it was a meritocracy that produced high-quality, innovative, and truly insightful guidance to clients. With the leadership changes that began with the hiring of Steve Lombardo, this all ended.

Cons

Beginning with the hiring of Steve Lombardo as "Global CEO" the wheels began to come off this company, and judging by the other recent reviews, that downward trajectory has continued. Aimless leadership, changes in corporate structure that were for the sake of change alone, and a toxic culture were reasons why, after nine years and a successful career at the company, I left and have never looked back.
