Pros

You can pick your own schedule, picking up assignments is easy, and pay is $90/day which includes a lunch and a 1-hour prep. Some districts offer bonuses if you work a certain amount of days with them a month. It's a great job for those who would like a second job

Cons

No summer job. If one faculty in a school complains about you, they'll completely exclude you from that school before even talking to you. Pay is okay. Elementary schools should all pay at least $100/day

Pros

It is easy to pick up jobs if you have the substitute app. I love working with students.

Cons

I am a licensed teacher but took an EA position due to a slow period. The teacher was a a substitute as well. The substitute complained and I was excluded from the building. Please understand that the previous year I had an excellent run at the school and all of the districts that I worked for in the 4 years with EDU Staff. It is not right that one substitute complained and I was excluded when I have such a good track record. In any other job people take into consideration your consistent respect and hard work and maybe give you a verbal warning. Excluding for 1 complaint is not right so I have been looking for work where I will be known for the person I am and not demoralized from people who do not know me from across the country.

Pros

Flexible scheduling. Have autonomy in choosing types of subbing jobs you want to take.

Cons

Lack of a feeling of security. You can be excluded from a school on the testimony of one teacher, and you will often be blamed if you have a bad day in a classroom, or if you misunderstood something in the teacher plans.
