Egenera...great product, great people.....

Pros

During my tenure at Egenera I found the people to be their best asset. The PAN software is a great product in the right environment.

Cons

Still a start up after so many years. Can't seem to gain mainstream traction. Other compeitiors are now in the space..ie...Cisco UCS.

Great idea poor direction

Pros

Great innovative product that was set to to change the IT landscape. The founder was a visionary that really took a great idea and built a solid product around it.

Cons

The senior management had good ideas, but was torn. The CTO who is now the CEO was stuck in his ways and really was one of the main causes of the downturn in business. The management did a great job of upsetting the one big OEM partner and let go of the people that the partner actually worked well with. Now the good people and me are jumping off the sinking ship why we can.

Pros

Innovative technology, Good work-life balance, Good people to work with

Cons

Poor executive product engineering and pricing decisions have hurt the company and investors, poor promotion/hiring decisions. No effort to promote the company's solutions via appropriate advertising channels. Business partnerships have not been managed effectively and have subsequently expired. Too many good people have either resigned or have been let go as part of recent staff reductions.
