Pros
* Company store discount * Excellent benefits * Decent but not great salary * FIFA is a great game * Decent work-life balance (for a game company)
Cons
* Highly political atmosphere. Its about who you know and who you are friends with, not results. This is magnifies as you move up the management chain (Director, Sr. Director, etc.). * Lots of layoffs in the past year amplifies the political environment (dog eat dog) and more layoffs coming. They are laying off employees to drive up the stock price and enrich the top executives. LIttle to know top-line revenue growth. * Very little diversity at senior levels of the company. Great place if you are from the UK (you are part of the club) but even the Redwood City (HQ) office has very little diversity given the area. * Too early to tell if Andrew Wilson will deliver. Lots of talk but most of the recent game launches have been financial of quality disappointments. Mobile business' performance is terrible and games underperform. Sims, Battlefield, etc., recent releases have had lots of problems. If it wasn't for FIFA the company would miss numbers and the stock will tank. Will FIFA save EA again in 2014? * They just don't get the Internet. Still stuck in the old way of thinking and despite trying, they just can't seem to turn the corner. * Talent of co-workers isn't impressive. The bar for hiring is not consistent or high. If you are a culture fit or have friends, then you are hired. But this leads to lots of individuals who aren't particularly talented, which leads to the performance issues the company has been struggling with. If you have the talent/IQ to work at an Amazon, Google, LInkedIn, Salesforce, etc., you will be very frustrated by the talent & intelligence of your co-workers if you come here. * Very limited upward mobility given the constraints today. You may get to Director, but then you are done. Unless of course you have the right internal friends. * Executive management is a bit sketchy. Not totally trustworthy.
