Great place to work where the team really matters

Pros

Element 84 is a small company full of people that really care about the work they are doing. They are a technology company that is actually family owned (by a husband/wife team) and you get the feeling of an older-school mentality when it comes to taking care of the team. They respect work/life balance and in return ask for folks to pitch in when crunch time comes, which does happen but is kept manageable.

Cons

As a small company, there isn't a lot of room for people that are super specialized, you need to be willing to pitch in as needed to get the job done.

Pros

I've only been here for less than a year, but so far it's been an absolutely great place to work. As a smaller company, it doesn't feel so much like you're "lost in the crowd". The projects are interesting, and the people I work with are some of the smartest people I've ever worked with. They're also genuinely interested in your professional development.

Cons

As a small company growing fast, it can be a bit chaotic. If you're the sort of person who needs a rule for every situation, this is probably not the best fit for you. The hiring process can be a little arduous, but that's becoming more and more the case nowadays.

Pros

A lot of companies talk about being "family" and looking out for each other, but this is the first place I've actually seen it in practice. The people here are genuine and they look for ways to help you in what you're doing rather than get in the way or be selfish with their time. The job itself is a real challenge but I'm working on interesting things, so I can honestly say that I'm more happy here than anywhere else I've worked. The benefits are also great: Fex time, really good insurance, vacay policy and and a real respect for work/life balance.

Cons

It's a small company, like 25 or 30 people, so if you're used to a big company environment then it's a different kind of place, but they do reviews and promotions and salary adjustments so it's not like you're stuck in a little shop with no prospects. Also, it seems like maybe half the company is remote or on flex time at any one time, so there's less face-to-face time than I was used to at my last company. They try to make up for it with conferences and chat, but that's been an adjustment.
