Pay scale is not based on experience or education. Departments have a set salary to hire staff. Everyone is hired in at the same salary. People with 15 years relavent experience make the same salary as someone with no experience for the same position. Most audit programs that review claims & medical records lack written policy & procedures which leads to inconsistencies with audit findings. Staff who perform audits do not always have coding certifications or any audit experience. Due to volume, they need warm bodies to do do the work. No one can do a quality job as simply there is just too much work to do & we are being pushed to cut corners.
