Pros

The valley is beautiful, mine site also offers spectacular views. Great work/life balance with Earned Day Off (5X2) staff; team dynamics is awesome; great support for newbies; and Leadership in my mine are receptive to new ideas and perspectives.

Cons

Housing in the valley is tough to find, if you intend to move with your family; winters can be brutal if you decide to commute

Pros

Flexibility with shift options to choose, 8x8 and 4x4. Good people to work with. Team has your back. Two annual bonuses are great. Not a camp job!! If you like t he idea of going home at the end of each shift, sleeping in your own bed, personal space!!! this is a great option. Amazing outdoor rec options, world class ski resort. Communities here are family friendly, good school options.

Cons

Housing market can be challenging. Coal is dirty. Winter season conditions can vary, depending on amount of snow.

There are lots of activities to do if someone decides to shift to the Elk Valley for work.

Cons

Nearest city is Calgary which is 3 hr drive
