Pros

None at all given how poor the org is

Cons

1. They believe micromanagement is leadership. The org design is all over the place - people are randomly moved across teams. 2. They believe in public feedback on groups and encourage people to pull each other down - so that they can play on insecurities of people. 3. The product is just Claude with prompts. They claim to have contracted ARR but nothing is live because the product doesn’t even work. 4. The attrition is through the roof. 5. There is no basic respect and human dignity. The leadership is so poor that the could single handedly move India’s poverty levels. Stay away if you want any resemblance of a workplace with psychological safety.

Pros

Agentic AI has a lot of potential if the leadership ever changes or the product actually works in production. I worked with a lot of talented teammates that did their best given the conditions. They've hired a lot of former Google employees, but not a single person from Coinbase or Okta. The founders are well connected so they can raise tons of capital. Might be having some challenges now since SC is not transparent with the board. The office has decent snacks.

Cons

Leadership has created a culture of fear and anxiety rather than trust. The CEO regularly messages employees at all hours and expects immediate responses, even at 2 AM. Middle management monitors everything you do across systems, including personal calendars, and constantly reports it back to the C-Suite. Time is frequently interrupted with unnecessary “fire drills” that are more like control tactics than actual business needs. Attrition is incredibly high because most people leave or are fired without clear justification within 6 months. Leadership will go behind your back to contact customers directly if they feel excluded, then wait until team calls to share the details in a confrontational way. The reason they're excluded is because they join unprepared and derail conversations with irrelevant use cases and collateral, yet they insist on being included in everything. You will be undermined at all times. If you value stability, respect, and work-life balance, this is not the place.

Pros

The founder vision here is the real deal. Founders came from Google, Okta and Coinbase and it shows — they think in terms of platform, not point solutions. A lot of AI startups are wrapping an API and calling it a product. Ema is actually building an orchestration layer. It's the kind of thing that's harder to build but way harder to replicate, and that bet is paying off. Revenue growth has been genuinely impressive over the past year. We went from a handful of design partners to scores of live enterprise projects with marquee names. Comp is very competitive, especially for high performers. I've compared notes with friends at other Series B/C stage companies and Ema is consistently at or above top of range. Equity refresh grants actually happen here and aren't just talked about. If you ship, leadership notices. The talent bar is high. I genuinely learn something from my teammates every week. The engineering org pulls from strong backgrounds and the culture around code quality and shipping speed is better than most places I've been. There's very little dead weight.

Cons

The biggest gap right now is the middle management layer. We've scaled the team fast but there aren't enough experienced engineering managers and directors between the ICs and the senior leadership. That means you sometimes get pulled into a steerco or escalation call that probably should have been handled a layer above you. The company knows this and is hiring for it, but it's felt in the meantime. Context switching can be intense. With many many customer projects running simultaneously across different areas, priorities can shift week to week depending on which customer has the loudest need. If you need a perfectly predictable sprint plan, this will frustrate you. Documentation and internal tooling haven't always kept up with growth. Things like onboarding docs, runbooks, and standardized processes across customer delivery teams are getting better but are still a work in progress. You have to be comfortable with some ambiguity. Work-life balance is what you'd expect at a fast-growing startup going after a massive market. Nobody forces late nights, but the pace is real. If you're in a customer-facing role especially, the timezone spread across US, UK, India, and Japan means some odd-hours meetings are unavoidable.
