Pros

Great co-workers in my department. Great benefits. Generous personal leave policy, based on length of employment. Two days time off per year for volunteering in the community.

Cons

Workers in my position were required to maintain daily quotas, even though the work varies widely. Only management gets recognition for exceptional work. When we got an entirely new system, the training was way too minimal. Open work quarters we were not allowed to personalize and we had to keep quiet. Number of annual performance review categories were reduced so that it was harder to receive a performance-based raise in pay.

Pros

Get to work 2000 miles away from the headquarters. Students are generally motivated and anxious to excel. Low pay and few opportunities for professional development...

Cons

The University is in the midst of huge upheavals as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees has taken the place over, He is corrupt and sets to tone at the school which is one of fear and intimidation. In a 24 month period the university will have had a total of four Presidents....does that sound like a stable institution to you? The institution is sick to the core and needs a complete external audit and probably a federal investigation into the corruption that plagues it. I would advise young faculty to leave immediately and find a career elsewhere. The cronyism, discrimination and overall levels of poor management for a period of years is finally catching up.
