Pros

There are some very good reason to work at Embry-Riddle in the Safety Department. Not only do you work at a university where part of your benefits are to be able to take college classes free. You also accrue personal leave days and 15 holidays throughout the year. In addition health insurance and a retirement fund, in which the university pays into, are made available. This is a very laid back job.

Cons

Though this job is very laid back. This in not a position in which you want to have a carrier. This is a position for college students wishing to continue their education in way that does not cost them anything and be able to work while learning. Or for people who have just retired and are looking for something to do that is low stress.

Pros

there are some dedicated individuals swimming upstream against poor administration but most folks are working as job-scared individuals who would leave if they could

Cons

There are too many folks that attended ERAU and now work at ERAU that have no experience anywhere else so any other way must not be any good, even if it is how Yale, Stanford or Purdue does it. Worldwide is basically a telemarketing outfit/diploma mill.

Pros

some of the benefits are not bad

Cons

Embry Riddle Worldwide is run by one guy who barely understand anything. It is always his way or the highway. Management decisions are based on intuition not rationale. It is a place where you can't speak your mind and you are always afraid of expressing your opinion. The dean of the college of Aeronautics is a guy that just finished his doctorate, after almost being expelled out of the program for failing to understand how to write a thesis. The new dean of the college of business is a guy with an education degree that never held an administrative position in his life and don't know how to run anything other than his mouth. The new chancellor strategic view has cost the university loss in enrollments and personnel. People are not happy, they are afraid. Full time faculty teach online courses to avoid doing any real work. Many of them have credential problems.
