Some Management are Okay

Pros

Good health benefits for you and your direct family (spouse/kids), good working environment (depending on the department you are in). One of the reasons that made me stay for more than 5 years already.

Cons

Salary not as competitive to high paying jobs but you are certain that what they give is a stable or "just right" amount to make sure that you can sustain your job in the company. Current HR team is not good in implementing (ComRes) the true essence of being an HR to their group. Some management tends to listen to only one side of the company without fully validating the scenario. This has an impact on the employees' morale.

Pros

good large corporation education; good education for learning to sell up to management (although the tedium is extreme); this company is best for people who thrive in beaurocracy and politics

Cons

very much a boys club; lives quarter to quarter; rotates executives and despite potential upsides, the downsides are grim as the new execs typically don't understand the business they've dropped in to manage and this results in confusion, lost productivity and lost talent; executive bullying which drives more bullying throughout; not a company that values fun or humans

Pros

Finely tuned corporate machine. Very stable, consistent work. Opportunities to move up within the company at a slow, but steady and reliable pace. If you do a good job and stick with Emerson you will eventually find yourself in an upper management role.

Cons

The typical problems when working for a large corporation. Very little creativity. Very slow moving. Annoying things withing the office that management has no interest in improving (no cell phone reception, entry points not in logical position to parking lots, building is always cold and dry. The culture was my least favorite part. People tend to want to go through the motions. Not a lot of ambition. Put in an honest 40hrs per week and then check out. Not a very fun work environment. Not a great place to be if you are young and full of energy.
