Pros
Engineering leadership has been very thoughtful with how our team is led. We have lived up to the core values (humility, respect, trust) in our team charter and created a respectful and collaborative team dynamic. For a "start up", we're thinking a lot about our development process and are regularly able to prioritize things that improve the overall quality of the development experience. Some may list "process oriented" as a con but I have found it helpful to create a code base that is focused on a set of standards and style guides. It's also pretty exciting to work for a fast growing company and the engineering challenges that we're faced with around scale and the long term sustainability of our software pose personal growth opportunities. As for the type of work - it's pretty interesting, which wasn't what i was necessarily anticipating going into ad-tech. Part of that is the breadth of our product and the diversity of the technology stack. We also have a helpful "growth framework" that I've gone over a few times that I find helpful for my personal development. The people on the team make this experience with Adwerx great and is the best team I've ever had an opportunity to work with. There is a section of our department meeting every other week where we do "shout outs" and recognize our fellow co-workers, which always leave me feeling inspired by the thoughtfulness of the others on my team.
Cons
- It feels like we're understaffed for all that we do. - There are times when I'm on a project that is either a little boring or too chaotic, but that is usually pretty temporary as we have opportunities to move to different projects ever 6-7 weeks. - The cadence of our company meeting is also a bit too frequent for the content that is presented. It's large group that our current space isn't exactly designed for. I guess this is sort of what you would expect from a company growing as fast as we are though.
