Missing documentation - This makes it extremely difficult for newcomers to navigate through the project. Documents and information is scattered all over - Slack, emails, confluence, backlog and it's near impossible to find what you are looking for Missing meeting/call etiquette - Double/triple booking is the norm, meetings going over by 30 to 100% over the scheduled time is another norm, and some participants come to a meeting towards the end and keep dragging the meeting forever, normal to ignore the time check and keep going on and on (read 'there are bullies you have to deal). It's normal to spend 75%-80% of your time on meetings if you are a Solution Architect, BA, PM Revolving door - Very high attrition rate. Members are leaving because of extreme burned out, and stress. New joiners don't get enough time to settle into a project. Not a great work-life balance The Most frequent words you will hear are - Stressed, Chaotic, Missing documentation, lots of meetings, cult culture (goes to an extreme level of self-promotion) While many companies disable "Reply to all" by default, here it is the most commonly used feature and it's annoying. The core team (BA, SA, PM) has to manage the client relationship. Senior management doesn't do the client relationship job, resulting in bad client relationships since the core team doesn't necessarily have the required client management experience. Sr. Management should be more involved in client management/escalation management. Disclaimer - This feedback is based on the project and people I work with and may or may not be reflective of the organization as a whole. Most of these are common in corporate America and the purpose of this review is to level-set the expectation before newcomers. I was very excited to start my journey here, but now feel disappointed with the experience so far. I hope this changes with the next project/assignment.
