Pros

Good discounts - especially on the black uniform you need to wear everyday Good location Some nice people Some nice customers Two extra vacation days for working on a holiday An attractive and interesting atmosphere

Cons

The lack of a sensible return policy which the customers take unfair advantage of. After the wedding, bar mitzvah, New Year's Eve, the customer returns the worn outfit and all its accessories. The commission for the sale is taken from the sales associate's salary after having probably spent half a day shopping with this customer. We know that reasonable returns go with the territory, but what's happening in Bloomingdales is totally out of control. People return things from 20 years ago, they return things with a Saks sales slip, they return things that are worn and used up and get the full selling price. They return cheap items with high end labels sewed into them. This all needs to be looked into and a new more restrictive policy put in place. Very negative performance reviews Pressure to phone people constantly despite the fact that most of them simply hang up on you mid-sentence. Get email. People don't want to be bothered with ringing phone calls from salespeople trying to sell them things when they're busy with their kids or trying to relax at home. Pressure to open credit accounts. Customers are sick and tired of being pestered with this everytime they approach a register. Sales Associates who are white men are treated like kings. Everybody else is treated like dirt. Huge amount of return theft going on in the store on a daily basis which Security Department doesn't take seriously enough. Adjustments out of control. Customers buy new items at full price, then bring them back every few weeks getting adjustment after adjustment until they are jobbed out. This all comes out of the Sales Associate's salary and it's robbery to the store. Other sales associates stealing your sales. There needs to be some serious disciplinary action for this to make people hesitate to do it. Useless union takes hundreds of dollars out of your check in union dues and does very little to improve anything. Meetings are worthless gripe sessions. Tacky black suit dress code. Let people show some style in a store that wants to consider itself a fashion center.

Pros

*Ability to build Clientele *Discounts on certain items

Cons

*Only concerned with image *Will do anything to cover issues including possible legal situations *No rules apply to top sellers, but if you’re on the newer end, they will throw everything and anything at you *No consideration for disability *Managers take no responsibility for mistakes or mishaps and look for the closest person to blame *Some management doesn’t even do their job, and fully expects you to take over situations that need handling *They have a statement saying they could basically fire if and when they want to, for whatever reason they choose *This company values what dollar signs they see walking in the door, and make a point of that everyday
