Pros
This review is for the west coast division of CCS. As I understand it working out of NYC or other regions can be a completely different experience. CCS is run by very smart dedicated fund raising professionals who demand a lot from their directors. The work is quite fast paced and you will learn A LOT very quickly. Compensation is decent, and the hours fluctuate based on your current assignment. I know of people who complained about the hours, though I personally never had a problem with it. If you are a strong performer you will be recognized and promoted quickly. Compensation is potentially very good, but you must perform well and in your annual review ASK for a raise commensurate to your performance with the company. If you like to move around and adapt well to various environments CCS can be a very exciting place to work. Medical benefits are quite good.
Cons
As other's have mentioned, you must be geographically flexible in order to work at CCS. Campaign's last anywhere from 3 months to 3 years, and you must be prepared to move wherever the next assignment is. This means you could be working in LA one month and Montana the next. It should be noted CCS does offer living stipends depending where they send you. There's a high turnover rate at the company, but that does mean there are plentiful opportunities for upward mobility. There is no standard level of pay so salaries and even living stipends for directors working on the same campaign can vary quite a bit.
