Cons
This place is a complete mess. They tout themselves as saving retail but that’s not actually what they’re doing. Their ultimately goal is to appear profitable and valuable but it’s all a facade. They say what they’re doing is cutting edge but there’s nothing cutting edge about anything they’re doing. It’s all smoke and mirrors. Meanwhile, the environment is toxic and even leadership talks openly about how traumatizing it is to work for the CEO. The ones that stay longer term just do a great job at being yes men to his face, working their lives away thinking they’re in for a major pay day if/when the company ever makes it public, while complaining about how terrible of a company it actually is. Sad to say, I’m not sure many of them will feel like it was worth it when this thing crumbles. The work is meaningless. They try to use money and flexibility as a motivator but it doesn’t work for the vast majority of employees because the money really isn’t that great and it’s actually not that flexible considering the expectations to be constantly working and responding to things at all hours. There’s a lack of appreciation for employees and general view that it’s never enough. They continuously scale up and down and expect employees who are already overworked to pick up the slack. One week there moving in one direction and the next it’s something else. Try to give meaningful feedback, make a complaint or express frustrations to leadership and you can bet you’ll be gaslit, nothing will change and/or they’ll fire you for no true reason. Which, in all honestly, being fired would be your biggest blessing, hopefully sooner rather than later to save yourself a massive waste of time and frustration. If you’re considering joining this company, don’t. Run the opposite direction. Anything would be better.
