Pros
Canon is ROCK SOLID when it comes to stability. They hardly flinched during the recession and still managed to actually grow. Canon is now the #1 camera manufacturer on the planet and they are striving to be the same in many other areas of the electronics market.
Cons
Thier hiring practices are a little dishonest. Canon posts ALL open positions on their website, however, unless it is an entry level position it is highly unlikely you will get hired. Yes, they will bring you in for many interviews and waste your time, then not hire you. Here's the catch. Canon ITS is in a large military community. So they are smart. They hire ex-military who can afford to take an entry level hourly pay because they have a second income. When it comes time to promote they can pick from the experienced entry level candidates. This effectively eliminates non-entry level candidates from ever being hired. This discriminates against the civilian population because there is little or no chance for anyone to apply for a non-entry level position and actually be hired. The perception is maintained as they allow a handful of external applicants go through the process, with little or no intent to hire them. The ex-military are given an unfair advantage simply because they have two incomes and can afford to start with entry level employment. It also benefits Canon because most do not need to participate in the full benefits packages because most ex-military have military benefits...
