Pros

• Most colleagues are a pleasure to work with • Good work-life balance • Remote work is nice, and I didn’t feel disconnected from the rest of my team

Cons

Working at CompanyCam used to be a joy. The people were great, leadership was open and genuine, and the work was challenging yet rewarding. But for the last 12 months or so, things have gotten so, so much worse. To start off, they just keep firing great employees. Tenured senior talent, managers, directors - all without warning or reason. So many high-performers, all fired with no explanation. When leadership is questioned about the decisions, they pretend the problem doesn’t exist and to just trust them. But every employee sees this and knows they are being gaslit. Speaking of leadership, the entire C-Suite is inexperienced for their roles and in way over their head. Not a single C-Level executive has ever had a similar role at another company. The rest of the leadership team are longtime friends of the CEO and are only got the job because they are friends. It’s such an “inner circle” nepotism sort of culture that no one gets opportunities if you don’t play their games. I don’t think they’re inherently bad people, but there’s no scenario where they should be running a two billion dollar company. Most of the VPs are also extremely unqualified and are horrible people managers. There’s an awful “We pay your salary,” mentality amongst the sales team and they feel so entitled because of their roles. There are some good people in sales, but it’s very much a SaaS Sales Bro environment. I also don’t think it’s any surprise that all of these problems started once the company began their latest round of funding. It’s much easier to fire or demote high performers with a larger salary than it is to explain to investors that experienced employees deserve appropriate wages. Employees are secondary when VC’s want to line the pockets of a dozen executives.

Pros

I've never felt so comfortable at a company before. CompanyCam is a people-first organization and you can feel it when you show up for work every day.

Cons

None. I'm extremely grateful to be at CompanyCam.

Pros

Fellow developers are great, in general. LGBTQ+ presence. Depending on the team you end up, you might get a great manager. Unlimited PTO. You keep the laptop you get after a few years working with them. Free therapy.

Cons

Going all in on AI, without considering all the issues that bubble has. Some manager aren't great. The culture is kinda "frat boy" and bigoted, with "jokes" and "jabs" that aren't funny at all. There are constant re-orgs and lay offs out of nowhere. The lack of direction is palpable. They keep adding features to the app instead of making what's there already better, and we all know how those apps that try to do everything end up.
