Pros

Corporate office is awesome! They practice what they preach. RTC! Respect, teamwork, communication. They have an open door policy so it isn’t the usual up the ladder chain of command. Compensation is decent.

Cons

The management team at their locations do not practice the companies core values. They expect perfection at every turn. Human errors can only occur once in a blue moon and you better have a good reason to make a mistake. Overworked overworked overworked. So many customer accounts on one person and when management was notified about needing relief, their answer is “well ask the team for help” and that is how errors happen. They fire good hardworking people and hire new ones that are even worse off. If you have a family, young children, etc. this is not the place to work. Work comes before family. Staying out with a sick child, doctors appointments, or doing anything with your family is impossible. Single parents really catch the sharp end of the knife at this “family owned business”. Work from home opportunities have so many restrictions that you don’t want to work from home. Speaking with managment about anything personal going on in your life (for transparency) is held against you. Perfection is key to this company. If they don’t like you, at the end of the day, they will do anything to put you in the hot seat and get you out of there.

At Composites One we are always disappointed to hear that a Team Member is less than satisfied with their employment experience. We believe that our culture is what makes our company a unique and wonderful place to work. Our Leadership Team takes seriously the work life balance of our Team Members, and we actively engage with our locations with regular Team Meetings, virtual town halls, fresh communications on our company Intranet, social gatherings. We also have an “open-door” environment where any senior leader is only a phone call away for anyone choosing to reach out. We offer flexibility for our Team Members to work from home when needed, and some roles are home when needed, and some roles are even hybrid or remote. However, we are a company that provides products and services to manufacturers, and our locations are set up to take care of those customers locally with a Team that is in-house and ready to serve. At the same time, we care deeply about our Team Members and have many long tenured people in various positions. We believe that by working together as a Team and supporting one another when needed, creates an environment that sets not only the company up for success, but also our Team Members. Yes, we work hard at Composites One, but we also have fun and many of us have formed lifelong friendships here. Yes, it is a family-owned company, and because of that our Team Members families are at the core of many of the excellent benefits we offer like 401k match, profit sharing, bonus plans, generous time off and dedicated sick days. We love knowing we are setting our Team Members up for long-term success and knowing this benefits their spouses, partners, children, parents, and extended family members.

Pros

Most of the employees are decent people looking for sincere connections from their coworkers while others fake it so they can gossip or tattle. Learned a lot about the industry in a short time especially since the work load continues to pile up even for new hires. Buyers are permitted to work from home two days of the week after their 6 month probation period.

Cons

Never ending side projects or improvements that require employees to change how they were taught even just months prior. Less than 2% yearly pay increase for a company of this size seems crazy. Parts of the annual performance review are based on factors out of the buyers control with no indication that the company has a plan to rectify it but someone the buyer is still held responsible. Some senior salesmen are permitted to be aggressive/demanding to new hires who are still learning their job. Very strong chemical smell in the Lakeland office whenever a styrene shipment arrives usually on a Monday which lingers in the office for a few days and can make it difficult to concentrate. Senior employees gaslight new hires that there is no smell or that it doesn’t bother anyone else. Management does nothing to try to ventilate the office and even make a big deal if asked to open a door for fresh air. Many employees are related to each other.
