The merger and acquisition process is one way that companies grow their products and clients. It is true that these events are often accompanies by changes in the organization and that can include lay-offs. During the Cotiviti-Verscend integration in 2109, there were some lay-offs occurring in three waves over a period of 9 months. While I understand that holding notifications in groups can seem impersonal, the manner in which we conducted the events was done with the utmost respect for those affected. In fact, we increased the severance available and offered outplacement services. And contrary to your assertion, we did not and are not sending all processes to India. Cotiviti is a global company with employees in the United States, Canada, India, and Nepal. Some processes are performed outside of the U.S., but most of the company's 6,400 employees are in the United States.
Also, your perspective that there are more people in management than direct reports is not accurate. Many managers were part of the lay-off process in 2019. And before our most recent merger with HMS, the ratio of managers to direct reports was 1 to 6 (6 individual contributors for every manager).
It is unfortunate that your departure from Cotiviti left you with such negative feelings. I understand that. It was a difficult process to go through; however, we communicated what we could when we could, we treated people fairly and equitably during the separation process, and our company has continued to grow and perform very well. Best of luck to you in your next role.
