Pros

It was an educating experience on handling what a job could entail. some of my coworkers were nice people.

Cons

management was lousy, communication with staff were very poor. The environment was depressing and incredibly boring. It was housing a shelter and the staff from that program were very rude, and obnoxious. not to mention police and ambulances coming in every week because of a problem. I witnessed violence, drug use/overdosed manic attacks, scarred people, intense arguments, theft, and many struggling people, it was a sad sight to see. Also since I would still phone calls from people, I was still doing customer service, which as many know, deal with a lot of disrespectful people on there too. But of course this isn't completely a fair comparison to a real hotel job since I was dealing with a shelter instead. I was paid 50 cents above my city's minimum wage too. No promotion or raise no matter how long you'll work there. But hey after one entire year of covering for other people's shift at a constant rate, and no days off. you get one week of vacation and only if coworkers agree to since it's extremely understaffed.

Pros

Depending on the manager or property owner- shifts can be great. If it’s located in a nice city- it’s great.

Cons

If it is not located in a nice city and if the upper management is terrible- don’t even bother.
