Pros
You are left alone all day to baby sit the hotel allowing you to focus on other things. Once you know what to do it takes maybe an hour or so to do everything, most of work is just handling phone and other general hotel problems.
Cons
Hotel is a black mold sponge cut out into the shape of a hotel, the walls are a patch work of haphazard 'fixes' and mold held in shape by ten layers of paint. The hotel has so much water damage than there is a wave on the second and third floors, they want you to work in the back office and it is a box of lung capacity reduction with leaks from the bathrooms above you leaking down on you now and then. Was asked to screen the crazies that float in only to then have them invite them all in anytime any of the management or their family members did front desk making me then have to deal with the problems that makes in the morning. They refused to take calls or complaints from customers so when they had a problem, asked to see the manager I then was forced to lie about (because I was the only person in the building) and then in so many words basically say "wow that sucks, we do not plan on doing anything about that, can offer you 10% off your next stay" and then them shrugging off or being confused at why that pissed off people saying "oh well we are a budget hotel, they shouldn't expect too much". They have lied about pay increases, saying oh after X time you will get a pay increase when in reality it was just the state minimum wage going up, actively bad mouth other workers and just did rather tasteless things (while not even being alert to it) Became very clear that all they plan on doing is burn out all the college kids that flood in and out of the hotel, they chased away all the maintenance folks they hired and actively allowed hookers to stay in the hotel and take in their johns. While I do feel sorry for them on some end as they seemed to get tricked into buying this place by the last owner still, the problems are so vast and most people who stay here just get pissed off and then bark at the front desk who then just get more mad when they realize we can't really do anything for them. Do not drink the water, a cup from the pool would be better for your health. hotel reeks of plastic lemons trying to hide the wet mildew smell, iv had to chase homeless people around with a night stick, almost get into fights with drunks. screamed at, freaky crazies haunting the blind spots of the cameras, death threats and worst yet-- karens who "know a guy" and will show me what for if I don't give them the phone number for the management. This is one of those hotels that bleeds out money and is kept alive for no other reason than that it is a college town allowing them to overcharge their rooms to nearly 300-400 dollars anow and then while knowing people will just put up with it because all the few other hotels are filled or even more costly if not somehow even more shady. Too top it all off right after my 7am-10pm shift at the end of my work week when i would then have my days off, They gave me a call alerting me that they changed my hours to this patchwork of abnormal hours no one would ever need to work and even overlap with other pay periods that very same night. All because they wanted me to quit over them just letting me go and when I said I can't do that and had to quit the audible change in managements pitch was so clear it almost made me cuss them out. Do not work here.
