Pros

- It is in Chicago - Lovely environment - You can start teaching (as an adjunct faculty) if you are a PhD student or a successful professional - In some departments there are real stars (e.g., a world wide known law professor, an Oscar-winner professor, ...) - A very relaxed environment - Course load is never a problem for a phd student

Cons

- Quite expensive if you are paying for your tuition - NOT a research oriented department (Computer Science) - No protection from the school against evil advisors (which is also lacking in most US schools) - an expensive city to live in - course prerequisites are rarely enforced, which makes course levels/speed drop to the student with least background knowledge.

Pros

The Center for Community Research under Prof. Leonard Jason has been the privilege of a lifetime. Despite being a giant in the field, he's extremely down to earth and helpful (and unreasonably astute– like talking to ChatGPT in real time).

Cons

Genuinely none. It's a work environment that's highly independent, and if you need a resource with a vast history of knowledge about community psychology, you've got one of the most prominent (probably top 5?) community psychologists a few doors down. Can't complain at all.
