DePaul University

Is this your company?

Management has no clue. Pay is horrible. - Senior Applications Developer DePaul University Employee Review

Pros

-Full tuition reimbursement (minus taxes) for yourself, your spouse, and (undergraduate only) your kids. -3 weeks vacation per year, plus a free week in December, plus extra personal days. -Generally a laid back environment

Cons

-Lack of options in health, dental, and other benefits. -Exceedingly low salaries. Expect 20-30% less than you could get elsewhere. (Hey, they have to pay for all those glossy self-promoting internal advertisements that everyone just throws out.) -Below average pay generally leads to below average employees. Expect to have to explain yourself repeatedly for even the simplest tasks. -Lots of pat-yourself-on-the-back behavior for things that are generally useless and nonsensical. The only reason to even remotely consider working here should be if you're going for your masters degree and want it to be (close to) free.

Pros

The Center for Community Research under Prof. Leonard Jason has been the privilege of a lifetime. Despite being a giant in the field, he's extremely down to earth and helpful (and unreasonably astute– like talking to ChatGPT in real time).

Cons

Genuinely none. It's a work environment that's highly independent, and if you need a resource with a vast history of knowledge about community psychology, you've got one of the most prominent (probably top 5?) community psychologists a few doors down. Can't complain at all.
