Pros
Many people will brag about the perks and material benefits of working at Dealer.com including an organic cafe, open work environment, on-site gym, chair massages, fantastic wellness program, and a vast array of sports teams. Aside from the material benefits, my favorite aspects of working at Dealer.com include the following: - sense of teamwork not only within departments, but between departments and company-wide - management styles where people are trusted and empowered to do their best - freedom and flexibility in the workday to have fun or take care of personal business - variety in projects and tasks - ability to communicate with management - extremely low turnover company-wide - opportunity to be a part of a fast growing company that has great products, super smart employees, and a leadership team that knows where it wants to go and understands the value of its workforce - dedication of the company to invest in training and professional development of its employees
Cons
The company is still quite young (11 years) and will benefit from some maturity. The incredible growth has resulted in a large number of new hires within the past couple of years. Having too many people that are still "learning the ropes" causes some challenges that a more mature and established company wouldn't have to deal with. People who like clearly defined and fairly constant working environments would probably not enjoy working at Dealer.com. There is an enormous amount of flux and the pace is fast (good for some, bad for others - depends on what you like). The company's internal tools (email, calendar system, CRM, etc) were sufficient for a smaller company and should have been upgraded before the company grew so much. These things are being addressed now, but not having enterprise tools in an enterprise organization has been challenging.
