Pros
Efficient / Streamlined onboarding. Lively group of people. Salary inline with industry standard, Good focus on personnel HR training.
Cons
Most everyone was very nice, well mannered and professional. Complex environment with LOTS of screwy, hashed together, UNDOCUMENTED processes. Different information / processes floating around from one person to another. Nothing consistent! When asking questions most times vague / different half truths given. Everyone said they would assist in knowledge transfer / training but that was ALL a lie. Had three technical interviews. Senior Engineer = Passed, Direct Supervisor = Passed, Manager = Passed. I depended on these individuals to challenge me to validate my skill set was inline with the requirements. I felt I was a good fit if given good instruction / training / time. I could tell my supervisor was really good at one particular niche but technically lacking at MANY others. This is the exact thing I was being accused of (because I didn't know everything my supervisor knew / and he definitely didn't know everything I knew). Supervisor acted like I cheated them or lied in the interview which was completely false. For example, I work with PowerShell as a self taught IT professional. (I conveyed this and many other technical deficiencies, like SQL) I never claimed to be a DEVOP's engineer. I was as honest and forthcoming as humanly possible. They use a 3rd party authentication software; because I didn't know it, all of the sudden I didn't know anything about authentication. I've worked with DNS for over 25 years. Because I made a comment of not having created a local zone in 10 years, I was told I know nothing about DNS. Wow is what I was thinking! This reaction coming from a seasoned employee who didn't even understand the URL / Azure Availability Group mapping dialed me into what I was dealing with. We didn't even get to the F5 fun stuff! Would have schooled him all day! Supervisor's management skills are next to nothing. Supervisor's lack of knowledge, inability to speak at a human tone (Drone speaker), inability to lead and knee jerk reaction's makes him a liability. Lead engineer was above the rest. You should feel so privileged if you got the chance to speak with his majesty. The manager is the only person who really challenged me during the interview and afterword's I was somewhat mentally spent. Managers depth of knowledge was very impressive. This individual knew how to lead, well spoken and fearless. The team as a whole was scattered and almost dysfunctional. Hacking away at everything with a sense of urgency / watching your back / working like firemen (or woman) putting out fires. On paper leaving DuckCreek was devastating (The Pay, Perks, Upward momentum and technical learning opportunities). In reality, it was a downward spiral of confusion (even before I got there) and I'm so glad I left when I did.
