Pros

It depends on the working unit and the team esprit de corp. A well managed unit can achieve the goals for both patient outcomes and employee needs. Usually equipment is in good working condition and maintenance requests are dealt with in a reasonable manner.

Cons

Constant need for staffing as supply of RN/BSN is not enough When inpatient population is high. Then manager may not be sensitive to the needs of the unit and pile on work duties in the face of staff shortages. Due the large nature of the corporate structure, many decisions that directly affect the employee impact negatively on work performance. Transition and changes in policies and procedures along with new technologies can be upsetting in the day to day efficiency of the unit.

Pros

People in the lab are very nice

Cons

Pay is the lowest around. If you work to cover an odd shift to get a meager bonus, you'll have to beg and remind them to pay you the bonus for months. They buy the cheapest equipment that always breaks down and squeeze every bit of work out of people for terrible pay. Felt taken advantage of there!
