Pros

Supportive coworkers who truly care, provide coverage, are thoughtful, and give their all when it comes to their clients. Opportunity to maintain consistent hours in event of client cancellation or schedule changes.

Cons

What I’ve observed at my location: overcrowding in clinic (ex: no designated table or classroom space available for your client when they arrive), sick client policy is murky at best with (ex: children vomiting and not being sent home/not notifying parent immediately, having a fever but “it’s not high enough” to be turned away or sent home, severe coughing), average raise is less than .20 cents per hr despite non competitive pay, no scheduled breaks (a full day is 9.5 hrs) despite company policy, fellows are scheduled to exceed maximum fieldwork hours, staff may be asked to come in and make up a day off despite using their earned PTO.

Hello. Thank you for your review. Here at Helping Hands Family, we are committed to the safety and wellbeing of our team members. Consistently, we structure our clinical procedures/operations around best ABA practices that ensures the well-being of our team members, which holds true in the actions we take when a client experiences illness on the day they are scheduled to be in the clinic/at home receiving services. We have a policy that lays out the criteria to establish if a client is experiencing symptoms that require the client to be rescheduled for services on the day that the symptoms are displayed. Our Clinical Leadership team strives to coordinate break times for team members on the floor. If you feel that you are not able to be relieved of duties, we encourage you to address this concern with your Clinical Director and they will work with you to ensure that you receive temporary relief from duty. We understand the hard work that surrounds being in the field of ABA, and as such, we strive to create internal promotional opportunities so that the work our team members put forward to our organization is accurately reflected in their pay. Additionally, we also offer annual merit increases and general rate increases for team members who are seen to have gone above and beyond their role’s expectations.

Pros

Strong collaboration and a supportive team environment, as RBTs have frequent opportunities to work together, share ideas, and problem solve. There are also opportunities to participate in clinic activities, such as decorating for different seasons, creating craft activities, and making DTT materials, which can make the work environment more engaging and creative. Offers somewhat consistent and predictable hours.

Cons

Noticeable high school-like, cliquey atmosphere, which can make the work environment feel exclusionary and uncomfortable at times. The company has also shifted toward a more corporate focus, where leadership decisions often do not prioritize the well-being of RBTs, BCBAs, or clients. This is reflected in practices that may feel unethical, such as keeping the clinic open during unsafe conditions in order to maintain productivity. There are also operational concerns, including reduced administrative time due to notes being replaced by AI, which can impact the quality of documentation and clinical reflection. Staff are often scheduled for back-to-back sessions without adequate breaks, and there have been instances where RBTs are not provided with a lunch break. Additionally, turnover is extremely high, leading to a lack of continuity of care, as clients frequently have to adjust to new therapists. The work culture can also feel tense, with a catty or unsupportive tone from upper management, and HR is often unresponsive when concerns are raised.
