Pros

The only good thing is job security because the departments are small so they will need you. Also, because you end up doing so many different things in your department, your resume may look good after this job.

Cons

I would say this is an okay beginner job, but I would definitely not expect to stay years here. Pay is lower than most places, paid time off is limited, no sick days given, you have to see if you will get christmas eve off depending on if the company meets its goals, and health insurance deductions are more expensive than other companies I have seen. You receive paper paychecks because the owner signs off on them. This is an inconvenience to everyone and they would prefer direct deposit. This is a more sentimental/family company because the CEO is the owner's son and some of his family members also work here. So prepare for that. I The CEO also walks around randomly and in the lunchroom so prepare for that too. The CEO also cares a lot about growing his company and the amount of members with our insurance but he doesn't realize that a bigger company needs bigger departments. The departments are small so prepare to be overworked. You work 9-6 pm which is a longer day when other companies work 9-5 or 10-6 for example. People have different experiences depending on their department, but there is a reoccurring ghetto/unprofessional and gossipy problem here. Basically this job tests how much you will take until you know you deserve better. And it’s not a good feeling when you see how often people leave or when our own doctors at our own medical centers leave. They pride themselves in being highly rated but that is related to meeting Hedis goals and NCQA performance standards NOT how it feels to actually work there. Give out an employee survey and it won’t be 5 stars.
