I was emotionally abused for years by another employee while working at Kevel. I've been in continual mental health treatment for the past two years because of the emotional abuse I experienced there, and was nearly hospitalized in early 2020 because of it. I am only just coming to a place where I can speak openly about it.
I reported this abuse to the CEO after I entered mental health treatment for it. He responded by continually insisting that I needed to keep working with my abuser, because 'the company needed them'. He never asked for any documentation of any kind that I was being treated for abuse. His clear expectation was that I simply get over it within a few weeks. It was also clear that he either didn't believe I had really been abused, or he didn't care.
They handled the situation completely inappropriately. Their focus was entirely on making sure no one else knew what had happened, and making sure that my abuser didn't experience any consequence whatsoever for it.
When I failed to do be able to continue working with my abuser due to further inappropriate behavior both in and out of the office, I reported the abuse again to the CEO. He responded by giving me an ultimatum that I either had to work with my abuser without complaint, or I would have to resign from the position I'd held for six years. Since I couldn't possibly work with him while also experiencing a mental health emergency due to abuse by him, I had no choice but to resign.
I am terrified that the company will retaliate against me for speaking up about this. They have gone to great lengths to cover up the abuse I experienced, and have gone as far as having this review deleted multiple times to keep it covered up. They are completely committed to making sure this stays under wraps, and I'm afraid that their next step will be to find a way to hurt me back into silence.
