Pros

Decent structure in regards to continuing education in the workplace along with annual reviews. Corporate benefits as far as 401k matching, tuition reimbursement, and healthcare are good as long as you can stand the work.

Cons

Management doesn't seem to discipline anyone with seniority for calling off or taking off early without any notice. This would often stick the rest of the staff with a bunch of work late in the shift. The lab was chronically understaffed the whole time I was there, so when 1 person called off that was a huge shift in the amount of work in the limited time. I took a pay cut just to get out of the toxic environment.

Pros

It has taught me what I do not want in an employer It gave me experience for way better opportunities It made me realize that being a good worker doesn’t always mean being rewarded

Cons

When injured from being overworked and exhausted , they treated me like trash When compassion fatigue hit— they judged and questioned whether I belonged there rather than understood People make up rumors about you even if you didn’t do anything (it’s like a catty high school in there) Having one bad day constitutes you getting pulled in the office to be scolded If you’re a good worker, and you get your stuff done efficiently, they stuff you with more work Many individuals treat the animals like trash and are covered up by management if they are the “favorites” Most of the trainers there are absolutely catty people and will talk behind your back if you’re “too slow” or “not learning fast enough”
