Pros

-Possible to make a lot of overtime money, especially as you're training. -Most daycare bookings will end before 2 p.m., giving you free time. -pay for travel and meals to assignments -learn basic camera and portraiture skills -good for a few months of solid work

Cons

-seasonal, December is off. -very early hours -inconsistent scheduling -lots of heavy gear to move around and keep safe -long hours traveling for certain regions -working at a daycares, especially large ones, can be hectic -gear (especially photo props) is constantly breaking or missing, so you have to borrow from other people and it gets mixed up. -no benefits

Pros

Strong since of community at local level, and support from Directors and regional managers however all that support is no longer employed.

Cons

Revolving CEO lead to new strategic focus every 3 years. Round after round of layoffs, mergers, restructures. I went through no less than 6 during my 5 years as a senior manager. Lost local control, and ability to build relationships with accounts. Closed offices based on lease agreements rather than area performance. I would be very careful to ask questions about culture, and tenure of staff, ask how many offices were closed or restructures have happened since Shutterfly, and then Apollo Global Capital. Apollo Global Management usually holds onto assets for 3-5 years, we are past that mark so I would be expecting that they will be breaking up Shutterfly in the near future if it is no longer profitable.
