Pros

Before Shutterfly and Apollo got involved it was an amazing organization that cared for their people and customers. They put a lot of investment into developing people and recognizing them. You were a valuable addition to the team and felt that. It was an amazing family culture where everyone cared for each other. After Shutterfly and Apollo, the only pro I can say is the purpose and industry, which can be found at any other company.

Cons

After Shutterfly and Apollo came into the mix all the pros above changed, you are a number who is under appreciated. Hillary is a joke, so is most of the executive leadership team. They don’t care about the people, they only care about the bottom line. Obviously this is important, but their style and approach is very offensive to those in the field. After the recent massive layoffs of over 800 people, to then find out it was done to position the company to be sold again and done in a manor that kept low performers and got rid of the best, I cannot recommend this company at this time. If the executive leadership team, especially Hillary, leave the organization I would approach this company with caution.

Pros

Strong since of community at local level, and support from Directors and regional managers however all that support is no longer employed.

Cons

Revolving CEO lead to new strategic focus every 3 years. Round after round of layoffs, mergers, restructures. I went through no less than 6 during my 5 years as a senior manager. Lost local control, and ability to build relationships with accounts. Closed offices based on lease agreements rather than area performance. I would be very careful to ask questions about culture, and tenure of staff, ask how many offices were closed or restructures have happened since Shutterfly, and then Apollo Global Capital. Apollo Global Management usually holds onto assets for 3-5 years, we are past that mark so I would be expecting that they will be breaking up Shutterfly in the near future if it is no longer profitable.
