Pros

Really feel part of the company and the work you do is important and valued. You also get to know many of the other interns as well as higher-ups in the company really well.

Cons

The work you do is hard and time consuming and while it's worth it to the company, your bank account says otherwise. In other words, it's too much work for such little pay. Especially when you compare it to other internships around the area.

Pros

Strong since of community at local level, and support from Directors and regional managers however all that support is no longer employed.

Cons

Revolving CEO lead to new strategic focus every 3 years. Round after round of layoffs, mergers, restructures. I went through no less than 6 during my 5 years as a senior manager. Lost local control, and ability to build relationships with accounts. Closed offices based on lease agreements rather than area performance. I would be very careful to ask questions about culture, and tenure of staff, ask how many offices were closed or restructures have happened since Shutterfly, and then Apollo Global Capital. Apollo Global Management usually holds onto assets for 3-5 years, we are past that mark so I would be expecting that they will be breaking up Shutterfly in the near future if it is no longer profitable.
