Pros

If you enjoy Photography and want to learn more or gain more experience in a studio setting you may enjoy this.

Cons

The set-up is incredibly routine/cookie-cutter. It is difficult to advance yourself make a career at this particular company. During the busy season (August-November) I worked as much as 80-90 hours per week and the rest of the year it can be difficult to maintain hours. I was with this company for three years and nobody i worked with got a pay increase.

Pros

Strong since of community at local level, and support from Directors and regional managers however all that support is no longer employed.

Cons

Revolving CEO lead to new strategic focus every 3 years. Round after round of layoffs, mergers, restructures. I went through no less than 6 during my 5 years as a senior manager. Lost local control, and ability to build relationships with accounts. Closed offices based on lease agreements rather than area performance. I would be very careful to ask questions about culture, and tenure of staff, ask how many offices were closed or restructures have happened since Shutterfly, and then Apollo Global Capital. Apollo Global Management usually holds onto assets for 3-5 years, we are past that mark so I would be expecting that they will be breaking up Shutterfly in the near future if it is no longer profitable.
