Pros
Somewhat decent benefits and some flexibility when you need time off. A chance to make overtime. Production coworkers are great to work with.
Cons
This is a male dominated environment. The female to male ratio is absolutely staggering. Women have the low wage production jobs, a few have made it into a leadership position. But only men have the highest paying jobs. A male will be given preference over a woman if applying for similar positions, I've witnessed this several times otherwise I wouldn't believe it myself. There are people who have worked there for decades and make $10-11 per hr thanks to an annual pay raise that's about 10-30 cents. This year there was no raise. But new hires are making a $1-2 more per hour than the existing work force. The retirement fund went down this year instead of up. They used to have employee incentive after 5yrs employment you get a gold ring, that's been changed to 10yrs. But new hires still get a pin after 1 and 3 yrs. Every single change in the past few years has been made to belittle and drive out current employees. If it's illogical, the lab will do it. Like acquiring the Charlotte lab work. They did not plan out the exchange. It has been the most chaotic mess I have ever seen. Trainees are training new trainees instead of experienced workers training trainees. They're hiring anybody and everybody that can pass a drug test. Doesn't matter if you're a violent criminal out on probation or face time on your cell phone during work or fall asleep in your chair. They don't care for the safety of other employees, in fact if you voice any concerns whatsoever you are more likely to be punished in some form or fashion. Sparks can fly above your head while electricians are working on electrical wires above you in the ceiling while you're forced to work beneath them. There are so many new faces on a daily basis you have no idea if they should even be allowed in the building IE are they an employee or just someone walking in off the street. Leads are so overwhelmed they have mental breakdowns. And supervisors snap your head off because you're not training fast enough. Some new trainees only receive an hour of training before they're expected to know and do complex tasks all on their own. It seems like no one knows what they're doing and they expect regular employees to pull miracles out of nowhere. And pay them less than the people they're training. There will be one more lab that bites the dust thanks to lack of management. Oh and employees should be warned not to participate in the company prize games, you're throwing your money away. The prizes are given to upper management and territory services at the moment. Sad but kinda obvious when you have several hundred employees and retirees and only those few win. Were we really supposed to believe those were 'blank' name cards they kept pulling out of the box?
