Pros
Developers are fairly compensated; Management is very understanding about personal issues and personal time; Many developers are truly gifted technicians and are always willing to help fellow developers; The company gives 2 days off for both Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays; Many of the employees in the Naples office are genuinely nice people, making the work environment pleasant;
Cons
As a whole, the company's policies toward software development are very short sighted. The development process that is currently implemented is frustrating and often make a difficult job unbearable. There is an element of 'management by fear' throughout the company - and this tactic is currently being used in the Naples office. Annual reviews are not discussed with the employee before they are submitted to headquarters, so the employee has no chance to explain situations to the manager before decisions are made and ratings are assigned. From a development perspective, the system is virtually undocumented and depends on the employee's memory as to why decisions were made - often causing confusion and duplication of work. Training is a nightmare - nonexistent. Management and Business Analysts have no technical experience.
