Pros
- Job security because always short on hands and no one wants to join. Many working visa holders here struggle with no much options outside. - You learn a lot by teaching yourselves through digging into the source code for there is no documentation, and asking for help from the others is... well good luck with that. - Very challenge job with old PCs for build and asking for hardware or stuff is very difficult because it requires from upper management personnel to approve by the whole chain of command, you will be ask why you need the new.equipment and how much productivity you will increase if they approve the request. Many others are still using CRTs and P4(yes Pentium 4) machines. Like building a house with fork and knife.u
Cons
- Pay is like ~30% under overall compare to the region, salary raise rate at 2~3% once a year if they feel like it.(They former CEO did say that they don't want people who work for money in a 2 hours lecture given to the whole R&D floor 3 years ago.) - they will try to put you on lower pay junior level jobs when you were interviewed with higher ones, and tell you that, one you interviewed, was filled. Happened to many F1 visa or OPT newly graduated students on the job here. - No education benefits, but they will tell you they used to have it couple years ago, more like at least over 5 years ago. - Many people have been bought and brought their own hardware to work because the hardware are so out of dated. - Assembly line working hour style 8 to 5 rules measure by seconds. Enforced extremely strict... 8:00 by the dot, 1:00 by the dot (You have to be on time, or some iphones are going to be missing their screens, or the home buttons) - No cup provided, no plate, no fork no knife, nothing is provided except the nasty Maxwell coffee in a very disgusting old coffee maker. All the VPs and seniors have their own coffee machine in their own office, some worker do that too. Even the toaster was donated by one of the workers here. - Last Christmas party was chip in by us and the managers. - Many other things - just don't care about us, and always use the excuse of "it is tough economy time", but they are sitting on a billion. - other than work is more work. you don't get anything else. - Plainly being cheap and at its finest
