Pros
I like my colleagues. Most people I work with are kind and intelligent, which makes it even more unfortunate how the company pits us against each other.
Cons
I genuinely thought I would stay at Mathematica for the rest of my career when I was first hired. Over the past couple years, and particularly in the past few months as management made a mess of things, I've completely changed my perspective. Mathematica's workplace is unsupportive and hostile, despite the quality of most individual employees. This speaks to how deep management issues are and how they negatively influence every level of employment at the company. Mathematica's corporate management is solely profit-driven while trying to overwork people under the guise of being mission-driven, even though c-suite executives they are really just trying to line their own pockets. No amount of spouting nonsense about "love and magic" during shareholder meetings can cover that up (that's a direct quote from our CEO). There's nothing loving, magical, or even decent about the fear-based workplace environment management creates.
