Pros
It is a large company, so in theory, there are a lot of opportunities to grow. They are in a position to offer a whole suite of benefits to their employees. The company has grown a lot in the last ten years, in part because of the trend towards shedding public functions to private contractors. So there can be opportunities for growth in the right positions. Other positions have people in the same job, even when the contract was controlled by another contractor.
Cons
Managers on the whole are professional but seem a bit defensive. The interaction between inferiors and superiors, at almost ever level, appears to be awkward. This suggest to me a subtle sense of insecurity for most of the managers at most of the levels. This probably is not unusual in the American workplace today. Though the economy is improving, people have no real job security, even managers, ergo, the insecurity, awkwardness and sense of defensiveness.
