Pros

The biggest pro of meditech are the coworkers and lower/middle management. The majority of them are good people who have been a pleasure to work with.

Cons

There is a long last of very fast recent cons that this company has been undertaking and it makes me sad to see the company moving in this direction because for years it has been a truly great place. To start the morale right now is at an all-time low. The new CEO is completely out of touch with her staff and the simple things they want and what's worse is it doesn't seem like she cares. MEDITECH has always paid salary below market value but in the past they could at least balance this with industry-high benefits. That is no longer the case. The bonus has been sliced down to almost being irrelevant. Staff can no longer purchase stock at this *private* company. MEDITECH recently added a 401K but does not fund it it's fully self-funded by the staff. We were recently informed that our sick time is not to be used for more than 5 "unplanned" sick days a year before disciplinary action will be taken so if you have chronic issues good luck to you. And the vacation time is so below industry standards it isn't even funny they need to add two weeks to all of their vacation tiers and then they'll be competitive. Post-pandemic modern 21st century tech companies are embracing the Work at Home lifestyle recognizing that it saves the company money while raising morale and happiness of staff that don't have to spend 10+ hours a week in traffic. Not MEDITECH. Here, the new CEO "feels like" we need to be in the office with no empirical evidence to back this up. So in January we're back to the office two times a week minimum. Goodbye MEDITECH's overhead savings and goodbye the staff morale of being at home. But perhaps the worst of it all is the Time Machine a trust-breaking morale-crushing time tracking tool in which MEDITECH staff have to track every minute of their days because.......... we still don't know. I do hope that MT turns this around because I used to be really proud to work here and thought highly of the company culture and the way it operated. That pride is leaving quickly now along with the staff so I hope upper management wakes up and kicks it in gear.

Pros

MEDITECH is surviving, which wasn't a certainty ten years ago. Considering the low starting salaries for greater Boston, the company tends to be less selective in who they hire compared to other employers. Even with the effect that AI is having on tech hiring.

Cons

The market was MEDITECH's to lose, and they lost it. Without HCA as a customer MEDITECH would be finished. Considerations for job applicants such as inclusiveness and work/life balance are largely irrelevant, as the company's long-term prospects for success are doubtful. MaaS subscriptions don't bring in enough money to make up for the business that was lost to market leader Epic Systems. I am a MEDITECH shareholder, so I see the financial reports. Although I'm pleased that dividends continue to be paid, they are draining the company of badly needed cash to fund a turnaround.
